A forward-looking project for greater efficiency, transparency and sustainability in network operations
EVN, one of Austria’s largest energy network operators, has selected VIVAVIS Österreich GmbH as its partner following a multi-stage tender process including a proof of concept. The aim of the project is to introduce a holistic Asset and Performance Management System (APMS) that will play a key role in advancing fully digitalised network operations.
Digitalisation as a driver of transformation
As part of its digital transformation strategy and ambitious sustainability goals, EVN is systematically expanding its IT landscape. Business processes are being analysed, optimised and supported by modern software solutions to create seamless digital workflows without system discontinuities. In the future, employees will have access to fully integrated information systems that deliver context-specific data, enabling informed decisions and more efficient operational processes.
Project objective: seamless asset management
At the heart of the project is the end-to-end management of technical assets throughout their entire lifecycle – from commissioning through to decommissioning. The APMS centrally captures, links and analyses master and operational data. This closed digital process loop ensures that information, activities and events are fully documented and traceable at all times.
Decision-makers in asset management work alongside technical teams using this shared data foundation to optimise operational strategies and manage activities more effectively. Interfaces to partner systems enable the seamless exchange of work orders and feedback, creating a fully integrated digital process that also supports efficient field operations.
The solution: CAIGOS 360°AM
CAIGOS GmbH, a specialist company within the VIVAVIS Group, contributes its proven CAIGOS 360°AM solution to the project. The platform enables EVN to centrally capture and manage all assets across electricity, gas, water, heating and data networks.
Key processes such as maintenance, servicing and incident management are digitally mapped. Standardised and validated checklists support field staff during execution. Events and operational activities are systematically documented, providing a reliable basis for investment decisions and strategic planning.
By eliminating media discontinuities and introducing integrated workflows, operational efficiency is significantly increased.
A long-term vision: building the network of the future
In addition to network operations in Austria, the project also covers EVN’s international activities in Bulgaria and North Macedonia. It forms a key pillar of the EVN Strategy 2030, which aims to establish a secure, high-performance and sustainable network infrastructure aligned with Austria’s national energy and climate strategy.
Conclusion: a strong signal for the industry
With its APMS project, EVN demonstrates how digital transformation in network operations can be implemented in practice. The partnership with the VIVAVIS Group combines decades of experience with technological innovation and provides a scalable model for other network operators looking to accelerate their own digital transformation initiatives.
