Road gullies

A road gully – also referred to as a road drain, inlet grate, gully, surface water inlet or gully pot – is an important component of road drainage. It collects surface water from surfaced areas and channels it into an underground sewer.

To keep a road gully operational, its silt bucket must be cleared regularly of accumulated debris, among other maintenance tasks. To make this physically demanding work easier, attachments for vehicles such as Unimogs and Multicars are increasingly used to lift gully covers, alongside specialised suction vehicles.
