Added value through geodata: Neuwied connects network data intelligently

The City of Worms is located in the south-east of Rhineland-Palatinate and has a population of around 90,000. As an important regional administrative centre within the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, the city administration plays a key role in the area. Worms is consistently driving digital transformation forward and relies on modern geoinformation solutions to support this development.
Christoph Wagner, Stadtverwaltung Worms
As part of its digital transformation strategy, the City of Worms aimed to establish a centralised and standardised management system for all municipal geodata, including tree management, excavation management, special use permits and other municipal specialist registers. The goal was to make relevant information accessible both internally and to the public – in compliance with applicable standards and with a view to future requirements under the German Online Access Act (OZG).
Since 2007, the City of Worms has been using CAIGOS solutions for the digital management and visualisation of geodata. With CAIGOS Globe, a web GIS was introduced for both internal and external use. All geodata is centrally maintained within the CAIGOS data pool.
The system is complemented by three specialised specialist applications:
Tree management with CAIGOS Baum
– Management and maintenance of around 27,000 trees
– Mobile editing with the CAIGOS Baum app
– Cross-platform support (Windows, Android, iOS)
– Synchronisation at the push of a button for seamless data exchange
Excavation management with CAIGOS Aufbruch
– Customised solution for managing all excavation activities across the city area
– Includes construction logs and deadline monitoring
– Direct field-based data maintenance via the CAIGOS Aufbruch app
Special use permits & fee management
– Visualisation of special use permits
– Automated fee calculation based on the applicable regulations
With the CAIGOS solutions, the City of Worms has established a powerful and future-ready geodata infrastructure. The integrated specialist applications enable efficient administrative processes, improve internal collaboration and provide modern digital access for citizens.
